How to Spot a fake Guitar - GIBSON LES PAUL

A many of you know, the ever evolving of globalisation is never going to stop. People will always adapt on how to make money, its too scary to a point where its like a mutant power. China has been known for the great country to produce mass quantity products with a very small cost. And its also famous for having the best photocopy ability ever. You want to order 100 units of handphones? Done, the only question they will ask you is. You want a Handphone that is a $1,000 per unit quality, or $10 per unit quality, of which is never impossible.

How do you tell a difference between an orginal good and a counterfeit one? for clothing, its very hard as most of the original brands out there have started to order their stocks from Asia (china, Indoenasia), for example, NIKE, you remember the big case NIKE had over using local Indonesians, and having a very low pay?

So for items like electric guitars, GIBSON LESPAUL to be exact. How do we tell the difference?
The list below just shows you one of the few things one can spot before getting the actual item.
If the copier is really good at copying, then we are in deep shit.

HOW TO SPOT THE DIFFERENCE IN GIBSON LESPAUL.
1 - three screws in the truss rod cover instead of two


2 - The curve behind the neck


3 - The Gibson logo


4 - Pick cavity


5 - Tune Head screws


6 - Knob wirings


Above are some of the spot checks you can do with your own eyes.
Below are some of the lists to keep with you when you purchase a GIBSON  LESPAUL
1 - Measure the guitar to check that it’s not undersized (sizes of each model can be found at www.gibson.com
2 - Check to see that all pearl is inlaid.
3 - Check that Les Paul model script is always in cursive.
4 - Verify that there’s not a three-screw truss rod cover.
5 - Check the control and pickup cavities for sloppy routing or wiring.
6 - Make sure the pickup cavity is not painted black inside.
7 - Always ask for the Gibson Owner’s Manual and Gibson Warranty Inspection card.
8 - Check the wiring. If it’s plastic it isn’t a true Gibson.
9 - When all else fails, contact Gibson Customer Service at 
1-800-4GIBSON. (for those outside of USA, err.. some heavy charged calls for you i think. ahaah)

Actually there are many guitars out there that has replica's, there are many ways to detect copies. as i know someone who actually has a GIBSON BONYARD, which has all of the above signs pointing to original. but i guarantee that once you call GIBSON to verify the number, it wouldn't exist.
